Performance

“The company has dedicated itself exclusively to improvisation and has attained a high level of mastery in it. Magpie is a perfect example for one to grasp the extent to which the engendering of the magical moment, of the fantastic, coincidental encounter, may, or perhaps must, rest on familiarity, mutual trust and being attuned to one another”

. Bettina Schulte / Ballet International / Tanz Aktuell

Magpie Performances are a combination of Magpie artists with at least one founding member. Each collective has a project leader who sets the collective of artist and negotiates with the festival leader or artistic director of the theater or venue.

Performances are usually done in two sets of 30 to 45 minutes each or one full hour depending on the theater, festival or venue.

Magpie performance Finances:

All Magpie performance projects can combine different groups of dancers, musicians and light designer. A usual number of artists for a Magpie performance is 8 (four dancers – three musicians – one light designer). This can be modified according to the venue or festival platform.

-Each artists receives 400 euros per performance (with 8 artists = 3200)
-For work abroad the contract must include travel (air fare), Per Diem, and hotel over the salary for performances.

-Workshops are 3 to 4 hours per day - 50 euros per hour

Magpie has a history receiving funds from their dutch embassies internationally.

We suggest that all venues or festivals inquire with their dutch embassy for supportive funds.

Magpie has a history for receiving travel funds with the podiumkunsten Den Haag. If you would like for Magpie to apply for travel funds they need to apply at least three months in advance and receive a invitation stating the finances, history of the venue or festival, motivation for having magpie within their venue or festival and complete schedule.
