Oscar Jan Hoogland (Amsterdam 1983) is an improviser, pianist, composer who is working actively in the field of both music and dance improvisation in Amsterdam Doing so he works within fixed bands and groups, such as The Ambush Party, as well as in first time collaboration settings. In addition to playing in the several different places Amsterdam knows for improvisation he organizes together with Harald Austbø a concert series for improvised music in BOOG 29 every month. Lately he has taken particular interest in so called game pieces, which resulted in the realization and performance of his dance game piece [PLAY]. Besides improvising he has composed for several theater and dance pieces and is involved in music theater projects such as the Bakfietsband as a musician, composer and inventor. Oscar Jan Hoogland graduated as jazz pianist at the Conservatory of Utrecht and is currently studying composition at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague.
